Situated at the hub of the Engineering industries of the country, Rachna College derives its name from the lands stretching between the rivers, the Ravi and the Chenab.
The Rachna College of Engineering & Technology, Gujranwala campus is spread over an area of about 25 acres, surrounded by a canal on the south and lush agricultural land on the remaining three sides. In addition to this, more than 50 acres of abutting land is being purchased with the aim of expansion in the near future. The academic block with a two-storey building stands prominent in front of the main gate in the scenic surroundings. To the right of main entrance to this academic block are the administration offices and two common rooms on the ground floor and three of the lecture rooms are located on the first floor. The left portion of the building houses two Lecture Halls, Conference Room, Admin office, Examination Cell, Academics Office and Health Centre on the ground floor and Department of Computer Science is situated on the first floor of this block. It consist of four lecture halls, video conference room, fully developed Computer and Internet Lab and HOD. office and faculty room of the department. The middle and rear wings of the academic block consist of four spacious halls, classrooms and faculty offices.Rachna College of Engineering & Technology is the first institution in the country which has been established on demand and with the support of the industry in the region. This has been achieved, after the Initiatives of the regional Chambers of Commerce & industry, through the support from the Government of the Punjab and academic support by the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.
The College was inaugurated by Lt. Gen. (R) Khalid Maqbool Governor of Punjab on 15th January, 2003, with the induction of the first batch of 105 students. The College is located on the left bank of Nokhar Branch Canal about seven kilometers off (East) G.T. Road, between Gakhar and Wazirabad.
